We're incredibly proud to present to you all, our plans for the 2021 racing season here, at CMH.
Having had a tad bit of a rough start at the end of 2020 and having gone through a shortened Winter Series with our F1 1991 season, we are now preparing for our first full-year season as one big and wholesome community, recreating classic racing from the golden eras of motorsport.
We put up the polls, and you, the community, answered us, and this is why we run the series we decided to run this year. Generally, we also decided that we want to run our races on the weekends, mainly Sunday afternoon, so that we can make sure as many people as possible are able to attend! We hope you understand and are able to join as well. We're looking forward to this!
Now, with the lengthy introduction done, let's present our racing series run this year:
1972 BRSCC European Formula 5000 Championship
What would a classic racing season be without open-wheeler racing? Boring, that's what it would be! Having been developed by the Historic Simracing Organisation, the 1972 Formula 5000 mod shows quality and fun, as you get the opportunity to drive the poor man's Formula One cars, open-wheel slick-tyred machines with 5-litre stock block V8 engines with upwards of 500 horsepower! The 1972 BRSCC European Formula 5000 Championship was run over 14 races all through the United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Italy, Germany and Austria. These loud machines can surely be heard all through Europe, no matter where we drive!
Simulator: HSO F5000 1972 mod for rFactor
Cars: Open-wheel, 5-litre naturally aspirated cars, 400-500 bhp
Schedule: 14 events held on Sunday afternoons, starting in March
Race length: Between 40 and 60 minutes depending on the tracks
1969 Nordic Challenge Cup
The predecessor to the well-known Interserie, 1969 was the last season for the Nordic Challenge Cup. Originally run very scarcely in 1969, with only three races being held, we're holding six races in 2021, all of which on circuits in Sweden and Finland. Car choice will be mostly free, with our license system used in the F1 1991 Winter Series being either revised or abolished; we'll update you all on that later.
Simulator: Classic Sportscar and Touring 1970 mod for rFactor
Cars: Sports prototypes, engines between 2 and 7 liters
Schedule: 6 events held on Wednesday afternoons, starting in May
Race time: Around 1 hour
CMH Open Races - Gold Star
These are races that don't belong to any championship in particular, but based on what you, the community, chose, we've put together a small schedule of races that run throughout the year. We measure the skills of the drivers on different disciplines, with the best overall driver receiving a sizeable reward at the end of the season! For fairness sake, we won't announce here what kind of cars and events we run, but we will announce and provide all relevant information as time comes. Stay tuned!
Simulator: rFactor, mods TBA
Cars: TBA
Schedule: Events held on Sunday afternoons, throughout the entire year
Race time: TBA
Last but not least, we've added our support thread for those who want to support us in dealing with the running costs of servers and timekeeping software. Every bit helps there!
Lastly, we're adding all upcoming events on our LiveRacers domain calendar, so to keep completely up to date, you all can have a look here: classicmotorsporthub.liveracers.com/League.
On the Dashboard, upcoming events will also be highlighted so you don't miss anything! We hope you like this little improvement and if anything is there to improve, don't hesitate to talk to us!
Regardless, we wish every single one of you a happy new year - Stay safe and enjoy the action here at CMH!
