The Triple Crown Of Oval Racing
This is the first annual Classic Motorsport Hub Triple Crown Of Oval Racing, a sub-championship to our Masters Trophy!
It's based on the Triple Crown for IndyCar Racing, officially recognized as a sub-championship from 1971-1989 and 2013-2015.
In real life, it'd feature three 500-mile events, and any driver who could win all three of them would be crowned Triple Crown Champion. Al Unser, Sr. was the only driver to ever claim the Triple Crown in 1978.
Our first ever Triple Crown will feature two 500-mile events and one 300-mile event. See the schedule for more details.
Rules
There are no special rules for these events. They are part of the CMH Masters Trophy, and the Masters Trophy rules apply to these races too.
Championship
Any driver who manages to win all three races held in the Triple Crown will be crowned champion and will receive a trophy with their achievement engraved. If no driver manages to win all three races, the driver who earned the most points for the Triple Crown will be crowned champion and receive said trophy as well.

Points Allocation
For our Triple Crown, we've looked at many points systems used in the past and we've decided to use the points system used by NASCAR Winston Cup from 1975 - 2003, also known as the "Latford System".
How does it work?
- The winner of a race receives 175 points.
- From P1 up to P6, the difference in points is 5 points, meaning 2nd gets 170, 3rd gets 165 etc.
- From P6 up to P11, the difference is 4 points, meaning P6 gets 150 points, P7 146, P8 142, P9 138 etc.
- From P11 onwards, the difference in points is 3 points, meaning P11 gets 130 points, P12 gets 127, P13 gets 124, up to a potential P54, which gets 1 point
- If a driver leads at least one lap, they get 5 bonus points added to their total
- The driver who leads the most laps, gets another 5 bonus points added to their total
