1973 B.A.R.C. "Wella For Men" Formula Ford National Championship - Round 6 - Cadwell ParkAfter a slightly prolonged break, the Formula Ford racers are back at Cadwell Park! Pole Position was won by Juan Guerrero (5), who won his respective heat race just ahead of Owen Potter (28). | The winner of the start was Pascal Mikula (3) however, who surged ahead along with Potter (28). However, Guerrero (5) and championship leader David Sabre (83) weren't far behind!
Cadwell Park has a very tricky, twisty final sector - something Dmitry Shudrov (31) found out the hard way! He managed to avoid any major damage to his car, though, and was able to continue racing. | It took a few laps, but finally, Juan Guerrero (5) found the fast gear and surges past Mikula (3) into a lead he would not relinquish throughout the rest of the final. Mikula (3) got close, but never past!
Just a few laps before the end, Halil Sahin (208) misses the quick chicane and flies six feet in the air, landing hard on the grass! The shock sent through the car was enough to not only end Sahin's race, but also enough to have him sent to a care center nearby. Fortunately, the Turkish driver wasn't seriously injured. | After sixteen laps, the final finishing order of the Cadwell Park Formula Ford Event is: Guerrero (5) wins ahead of Mikula (3), then come Sabre (83), Czlapinski (53), Chris Hood (4), Matt Sibanyoni (2), Potter (83), Simone Ghilardini (1) and Dmitry Shudrov (31). The only non-finisher was Halil Sahin (208) of Turkey. |

2022 CMH Masters Trophy - Round 4 - 1971 Road Atlanta CanAmThe fourth round of the 2022 CMH Masters Trophy is underway! 10,000 hp worth of pure muscle go on for 75 laps at Road Atlanta - your polesitter: Liam Dolan in the #5 McLaren! Beside Dolan sits Italian Giovanni Centorame (8). | The early stages of the race saw a small fight between Lorenzo Turri (20), Matthew Sibanyoni (50) and Anthony Byrne (29). Fortunately for the three of them, this little moment yielded no collision despite it being a damn close call!
However, that wouldn't mean there wasn't any drama on lap 2! Sibanyoni (50), suffering from an injury sustained during practice, loses control over his Ferrari 712M - Matthew Oboyski (1) and Anthony Byrne (29) have to avoid the Ferrari. No collision ensured but Sibanyoni retired at the end of the lap. Byrne's off-track excursion would force him into an early pit stop. | Ever wondered why the early 1970s in Can-Am were called "The Bruce and Denny Show"? Well, Liam Dolan (5) in the works-entered McLaren M8F has the answer! Only five laps into the race, he has a massive lead over second-placed Martin Bayer (11) - almost 10 whole seconds! Nothing could stop Dolan...except mechanical issues.
Oboyski (1), having spun in sympathy with Sibanyoni (50), now saw himself battling Anderson Bernardino (23) - but this sure isn't how either imagined the fight going down! A heavy hit into the Armco barrier would mean damage to Bernardino's McLaren, however the Brazilian was able to continue for now. He would, however, fail to finish the race after electrical issues cut his journey short. | Oh, but let's not forget the rivalry of those two - Lorenzo Turri (20) in the Porsche fighting Pascal Mikula (51) in the Lola - two very different cars for very different portions of the track. Turri is seen here overtaking Mikula, as the Porsche is a faster car through the twisty parts of the circuit - while the Lola's 494 Cubic-Inch V8 engine makes for a big advantage on the straights. |
Lap 13 proved to be unlucky for Turri (20), as he loses control over the final crest and slams his Porsche into the Armco in a scary tankslapper - he is uninjured, but out of the race. Behind him, Ronan Griffin (3) slides off-track in sympathy. The Irish driver is able to continue, however. | Throughout the entire race, these two were battling for second place. Giovanni Centorame (8) against Martin Bayer (11) - almost ending ugly here! Barely ever separated by more than three seconds, the two McLaren drivers made for lots of excitement during the race. Later, Bayer would fall back, though. An unplanned pit stop dropped him from second place to fourth. |
Massive drama on lap 48 out of 75! The leader Liam Dolan (5) blows his engine and rolls into the pits with flames shooting out of the back of his McLaren car! By this point, he was leading by an entire lap - all gone within a flash! | And profiting from Dolan's misfortune: Giovanni Centorame (8)! He wins the Road Atlanta CanAm ahead of Pascal Mikula (51) and Ronan Griffin (3)! The winning margin? One entire lap. What a performance! |

1971 SCCA Trans-Am Championship - Round 7 - Sainte-Jovite 300kmAnd it's Bonjour from Quebec, Canada, where the seventh round of the SCCA Trans-Am Championship took place! On Pole Position, as usual, Ricardo Mendes (23) ahead of Pascal Mikula (42) - but what's that? Two Barracudas? Yes! Dan Gurney managed to hire the Finn Poskiparta for the #48 car for this race! | And the two AAR cars made sure to raise eyebrows - Mikula (42) taking the lead early, Poskiparta (48) behind Mendes (23) completing the Eagle Sandwich. For the first 25 laps, no doubt, the top-six drivers were close together, less than six seconds apart at the worst.
As is known by now, these big cars don't take too well to going off into gravel - a fact both Matthew Oboyski (8) and Anderson Bernardino (93) had to find out again... Ronan Griffin (16) fortunately got out... | ...unlike another Ford Mustang. This high-speed accident put George Oster (33) into the hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries! It's not known whether or not he'll appear at Watkins Glen, but only time will tell.
Teamwork makes the dream work - but banging doors with your team mate can end up very ugly! Mikula (42) can barely hang on to his car after losing control over a crest - and fortunately does not collect Poskiparta (48). | Bad luck would continue to rain down on the German in the Plymouth - this hit with the tire wall forcing an early pit stop for repairs. He would fall down to fifth place, while at the front, it's Owen Potter (1) fighting Joe Gillett (45) and Ricardo Mendes (23) for the lead. |
And fight they did! Two Mustangs against one Camaro - and Potter (1) is more than capable of putting the fight to Ford. These three would fight for the win until the last second, as even the second Barracuda of Poskiparta (48) fell back with damage and a long pit stop. | The final blow to the hopes of Dan Gurney's team came when Pascal Mikula (42) found himself in the tire wall before the pit entry - tires damaged, engine broken. Fortunately, he suffered no injuries and will be back at Watkins Glen. |
Talk about strategy masterclass - Joe Gillett (45), the last of the late stoppers! While his opposition pitted earlier than him, he managed to build up a 25-second lead. Just enough to come out ahead of Potter (1) and Mendes (23) when he pitted on the penultimate lap of the race for just a small splash of fuel! | He didn't change tires, though - which left him vulnerable to Owen Potter (1), who managed to get close on the final lap! Too close for comfort even, as the two collided in the final corner! Potter (1) got out ahead, claiming a controversial victory ahead of a spinning Joe Gillett (45)! Ricardo Mendes spun earlier in the lap, finishing 12 seconds behind, in third place. |

1973 B.A.R.C. "Wella For Men" Formula Ford National Championship - Round 7 - ThruxtonWe're back at Thruxton for the seventh meeting of the Formula Ford National Championship! Your front row: Giovanni Centorame (70) just ahead of Cezariusz Czlapinski (53)! | A very good start by Owen Potter (28) puts him ahead of Sabre (83) and Pascal Mikula (3) - a front row seat looking back at what almost turned out as a big collision into the final chicane.
Unfortunately, the first crash of the Final turns out to be Simone Ghilardini (340). The Italian was shaken, but uninjured. | A big crash at the final corner involves David Sabre (83), who lost control of his car, and Owen Potter (28), who had nowhere to go. Chris Hood (4) is barely able to avoid the wreck and is able to continue.
Throughout the Final Heat, a great battle ensued between Giovanni Centorame (70) and Pascal Mikula (3). In front, Cezariusz Czlapinski (53) went off into the sunset - already 10 seconds ahead by Lap 10. | Coming into the final lap, though, a small tap by Mikula (3) sends Centorame (70) around! The hit left some marks on the German's Lola T340, and he was forced to slow down to not risk a mechanical failure. |
And this is our race leader, Czlapinski (53), running out of fuel on the final lap! Just some hundreds of yards before the Finish line, his car grinds to a halt! The Pole climbs out and tries to push his car to the finish line, but to no avail. He got scored with 14 laps completed out of 15. | An out-of-fuel Czlapinski (53) and a slowing Mikula (3) means that Giovanni Centorame (70), who was facing the wrong way at the start of the final lap, comes across the line first! The Italian takes a surprising but deserved victory at Thruxton! |

1973 B.A.R.C. "Wella For Men" Formula Ford National Championship - Round 8 - Oulton ParkOulton Park welcomes the BARC Formula Ford Championship for a second time this year - and it's a famous front row! Joe Gillett (57) leads Owen Potter (28) but Pascal Mikula (3) joins them with a rocket-like start from fifth place! | Oh, but watch out! Going wide into Cascades, Pascal Mikula (3) spins right in front of David Sabre (83)! Sabre (83) is barely able to avoid the spinning Lola, but both can continue - albeit Mikula being last in line now. |
As the chaos ensues behind them, it's Gillett (57) and Potter (28) going off into the sunset, leading the race during the majority of the race. | Meanwhile, Pascal Mikula (3) is suffering from horrible luck, falling back all the way behind rookie Jacek Slaby (75). The two would battle for fourth place.
Lap 7 of 13, and Joe Gillett (57) loses control at Island Bend, losing his nose cone! Potter (28) now has the potential to extend his lead, so it's all going to plan for him ... | ... or is it!? Watch out, camera man! Potter (28) loses control while braking for Knickerbrook, slamming into the wall! His race is over, and Gillett (57) is back in the lead! |
More disaster for both Mikula (3) and Jacek Slaby (75) - the two collide and both their races are over! And, believe it or not, that leaves only TWO cars running at this point, those being Gillett (57) and David Sabre (83)! | After thirteen chaotic laps, Joe Gillett (57) wins the Formula Ford Oulton Park Round ahead of David Sabre (83)! The gap between the two drivers was less than nine seconds, but both claim valuable points for the championship. |
